A generic definition of disease is;

  • a particular quality, habit, or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or group of people.
  • a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.

There are several different definitions, all similar to those above but they are all quite vague. If you ask the average person where they think disease comes from, most will display a blank stare. It is as if they had never given a thought to that question. It seems that most just think it is something we get from breathing it in. As with most words in the English language, the word “disease” is yet another word we haphazardly use without a thought.

Disease is categorized into four categories:

  • Infectious Disease
  • Genetic Disease
  •  Physiological Disease
  • Deficiency Disease

Infectious Disease is thought to be caused by;

  • Bacteria.
  • Viruses.
  • Fungi. …
  • Parasites.

Genetic Diseas is defined as:

  • An abnormality in the DNA
  • An inherited Gene that causes the abnormality.

Physiological disease is defined as a condition in which the bodily organs mafunction, as in the case of;

  • Asthma
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetes

Deficiency disease, also known as deficiency disorder, refers to a lack of essential vitamins and/or minerals in our system. A few of the more commonly known deficiencies and their affects on the body are:

  • Vitamin C: Scurvy
  • Iron: Anemia
  • Zinc. Growth retardation
  • Calcium: Osteoporosis. Rickets

Disease just simply means the body is at Dis-Ease. It is not functioning Things are not flowing smoothly. Something is out of balance. It really isn’t a mystery once we know how the body functions. It does not require a medical degree to know the basics. It doesn’t even require a course in anatomy to figure it out. One of the greatest things we can learn, is how the lymphatic system works. It is our body sewer system. If it clogs up, toxins and cellular waste back up, overflowing back into our body, effecting our entire system. It is not complicated. We just need to pay attention to what our body is telling us. Disease is only to be feared if we don’t know what is driving it.
